甘肃卫生职业学院是甘肃省唯一一所医药卫生类高职院校。其前身是创建于1935年1月的甘肃省立助产学校，学校坚守医疗战线，几经蝉变，甘肃省卫生学校、甘肃省中医学校、甘肃省医药学校、甘肃省农垦中等专业学校先后加入，游子归家，携手奋进，走出了一条由小到大、由弱到强的职教奋进之路，赢得了社会的广泛赞誉和认同。

2024年以优秀等级完成省级首批“双高”建设。现有兰州新区、兰州市城关区盐场路、兰州市七里河区西果园、武威黄羊镇4个校区，占地面积1537.92亩，全日制在校生1万余人，教职工总数635人，教学、生活、体育等配套设施齐全，办学条件良好。

学校开设有临床医学、口腔医学、中医学、针灸推拿、护理、助产、口腔医学技术、医学检验技术、医学影像技术、药学、中药学、藏医学、康复治疗技术、老年保健与管理、中医康复技术、智能医疗装备技术、眼视光技术、医学美容技术等18个专业，形成了门类较为齐全的卫生健康高职教育专业群。其中，护理、口腔医学技术两个专业被教育部认定为《高等职业教育创新发展行动计划（2015—2018年）》项目骨干专业建设项目；护理、口腔医学技术、药学、助产等4个专业被甘肃省教育厅认定为甘肃省职业教育高职骨干专业。
